Barclays Bank were the first company in the UK to offer a credit card. This was some forty years ago in 1966 and now one in five credit cards is a Barclaycard credit card.

This is quite some feat when you see how much competition there is in the credit card marketplace!

Barclays Bank were also the first financial institution to offer online account management to its Barclaycard credit card customers.
